“See you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” John 5:14b
Being well means being right with God, when we feel this way we see life to the fullest, living a full life is what God wanted us to have. A full life is not a life free from challenges and situations but instead it is a life that is totally dependent to God. It is only when we live far from Him that we lose the opportunities of enjoying life to the full.
You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. John 5:39-40
Are we really obeying God’s Word? Obedience is the only response that God wanted from us when we say that we read and studied God’s Word. No more, no less.
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” John 6:60
If obeying God cost us nothing, how can we give to God our very best, the best of our time and commitment. It is only when we persevere to obey no matter how hard it is, that we were able to learn giving our best to God.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw stone at her.” John 8:6b-7
I am truly amazed with how Jesus responded to this particular situation in the Bible, Jesus himself doesn’t judge and condemn but He goes extra mile to help people change from their ways. If Jesus is like that, can we not be like him also, to stop judging and condemning people of their mistakes, of the things that we all do that is not acceptable. But instead have the heart to help each other make it right. As the saying goes, hate the sin, not the sinner.
To the Jews who had believed in him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31
Believing in God should go hand in hand with holding on to his teaching, holding on means obedience. If you say that you believe in God but doesn’t obey Him through his Word, it is futile, it is like “chasing after the wind.”
